RCom is going to shut down MTS as soon as possible to convert the spectrum to 4G. But unless they introduce VoLTE, only data will work on 4G. Without 2G/3G to fall back, there will be no voice at all. RCom has already indicated that they will concentrate on 4G dongle market. Majority of MTS users are also dongle users. As per the earlier RCom CDMA to LTE conversion experience, it would be very poorly handled and they would switch off the CDMA towers suddenly without giving much time to the customers. So any important number should be immediately ported.

@KAPILKDEV Port out to some other operator as early as possible, since those numbers are important to you. Actually RCom 2G/3G is closing on 30th Nov, but MTS closure is about 1st week of November, afaik. To change your number to RCom 4G, you first need to change the SIM for sure. But DO NOT fall for this trap, as you may be treated as new customer and may NOT jump to any operator for 3 months then. So instead change to some other GSM operator or Jio asap. Please remember your CDMA RUIM will NOT automatically / magically convert to 4G SIM. Your CDMA phone may become waste, if its locked. If you still want to use that phone (in case it is unlocked), your only option is BSNL CDMA. Just escape as fast as you can from the sinking ship...

New complaint number to get unwanted mobile VAS deactivated. Telecom consumers can now register complaint about wrongful activation of value added services (VAS) like mobile Internet and caller tunes on a new common number, 155223, for all operators. Telecom operators will have to refund the amount charged for such activation of services if consumers inform about it within 24 hours on this common number. The service has been put in place by telecom operators jointly after telecom regulator Trai refused to give them any leeway in such cases from February 2. Operators reported compliance to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on February 1. "A common solution has now been devised for all of industry which will enable simple and easy exit. It came onto force on February 1," Trai Chairman Rahul Khullar told PTI. Subscribers who have been using any value added services beyond 24 hours can also request for deactivation of service on this number. Telecom operator will have to deactivate service within four hours of getting phone call but the customer will not be eligible to claim refund in such cases. On July 4, 2011 Trai directed telecom operators to obtain explicit consent of consumers "through consumer originated SMS or e-mail or FAX or in writing within 24 hrs of activation of the value added service and charge the consumer only if the confirmation is received from him" for subscribing it. The industry has objected to this direction and estimated Rs 12,000 crore revenue loss and over 10,000 job loss on complying with the direction. After failing to convince the regulator, industry body representing GSM players COAI approached telecom tribunal TDSAT but lost. The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) gave telecom operators three months time (till February 2) to comply with the direction. As per the rule, operators will have to take consent of subscribers before activating any VAS and deactivate it without charging for it if no consent is received from them. Trai has asked operators to inform their subscribers about the new facility and also publish its details in newspapers. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/telecom/new-complaint-number-to-get-unwanted-mobile-vas-deactivated/articleshow/18369522.cms

Once TRAI wanted to mandate the per-second billing and as usual Cartel dis-agreed saying "Market forces should decide price".. Now it is chance for TRAI to implement it along with reduction in IUC, say if they decided for 6p/min, then they can put it up as 1p/10 seconds... Just a wishful thinking ... I guess Docomo's 1p/2sec for 3 months at Rs66 and almost same offer from MTS and Videocon are in expectation of such IUC reduction in pipeline... Let TRAI ignore the Cartel' bluffs and reduce IUC to much low level to keep the competition in market for ever and the new operators may also get some life by doing so... But I still prefer 5p IUC than removing it totally as it may again lead to death of new operators... For example Cartel will then provide UnLimited calls for Rs999 and new operators have to provide the same for Rs250 and obviously higher ARPU users will remain with Cartel and ALMOST ALL aam-aadmi crowd will reach new operators and their network will die in no-time and once-again competion will be lost in telecom industry then... Kesav Ji, when will TRAI report the final decision for the IUC charges??? Please inform us here... Thanks...

Minimum expected out of Cartel. That's goal and sole purpose of such cartel formation... :Contento: The most atrocious part is that cartel's view will only be propagated through our hopeless paid media....... Our idiotic media will try with all its might to paint TRAI as an inefficient regulator to please their financiers/bosses.... :'( :'( :'( Hope it'll help our fellow members to understand the hostile environment under which our regulator(TRAI) is working....
