Its seems voice on RCDMA will be shut..voice subscribers will eventually be moved to RGSM.May be in 2013 when they will build a robost GSM network... CDMA will only be for EVDO data. -

CDMA will be shut down ...the reason why reliance has started GSM..Reliance didnt start GSM just to corner some spectrum. why would on earth a operator opt for dual network,...especially reliance when they were doing well with CDMA and moreover CDMA was gaining some kind of traction due to it wide network coverage and stability. Going forward reliance will surrender some CDMA spectrum and will acquire GSM spectrum. Moreover they launched tab on their GSM 3G network..logically they should have launched with EVDO network which is present in 800 cities and supported by pan india 1x network. They are not interested in bringing high-end CDMA phone to their network like MTS. Such moves by reliance is sure shot indication of shifting from CDMA to GSM service provider. -

Can anybody tell me how many towers reliance as added for CDMA since last 2 years...the answer in none.. there are still some grey areas in india which need to be covered by RDCMA..but they are not covering it.. for e.g i have been to harihareshwar in Maharashtra..every other operator has network over there but RCDMA no network for kilometers around harihareshwar and reliance is certainly a old operator should have covered all areas by now. -

Reliance is just trying to improve their GSM network..eventually when their GSM network will be robost they will migrate all their CDMA subscriber to their GSM network by offering good and innovative plans and Handset..Much like what Australian network provider Telstra did with their CDMA subscribers. All the free cdma spectrum will be used to provide EVDO B or EVDO advanced to provide better wireless broadband experience to custumers. -

i guess CDMA will be closed eventually coz i can see places where RGCM has coverage but CDMA doesnt. and now a day RCDMA is not coming up with bundle offer for handsets.this is sure shot sign of things to come. -

no source...seems the way for rcom...its not viable for any operator to sustain with dual network..nor rcom is keen on expanding 1x network despite of repeated complains from customers..even tata is doing the same..tata is removing cdma towers for their GSM purpose. -

postpaid guys are cheated by reliance with 950 silver you get 5GB on HSD speeds + Unlimited free Usage on 1x speeds 30 Days...for perpaid you pay only 800 for same plan..why 150 rupees more....cheating by reliance. -

Hi Friends, Battery backup is for one and half days with heavy usage and gaming. Built quality is descent. Never used EVDO as i don't know whether reliance give free 15 GB for two months. the free GB usage is only for Samsung Corby so i am bit apprehensive to activate it, as reliance will charge me 1750 for 15 GB. with one 1x, browsing experience is good.

EVDO is better any time, 3g in GSM will be on bandwidth which has poor coverage area hence more capex to give good coverage. Evdo works on 800 mhz which has better penetration than 3gsm. moreover evdo easier to deploy, operators just have to upgrade the channel card and the software. For 3GSm Operators have to lay parallel network to 2g. Evdo is time proven and more consistent. America is the best example where AT & T is still struggling to give good service on their 3GSM while Verizon and sprint are provding consistent speed on their EVDO rev a network. -
Friend i would like to give reviews but i am not the geek. in lay man terms this handset is value for money with good user interface. web browsing is good on 1x, cant comment on evdo as i am still struggling to transfer my no to OMH sim. on inserting OMH sim it show two different signal bars one for 1x and other for evdo. played youtube videos through 1x in mumbai, without any break. voice clarity is very good, and even network reception is also good as always with LG. tried to install opera browser but failed due to unsupported URL, dont know why. the form factor is very good, nice and slim. people use many other feature in phone but i cant comment on those as i seldomly use them cant comment whether this handset supports third party application or not. i bought this handset for rs 8000.

Dear Kesav, thanks for your modification of post, I found this handset very appealing, i can see youtube video without any break on 1x network let alone rev a. the only problem is I am not able to transfer my no to OMH sim, I have used handset change card but in vain. could you help in this matter. thanks in advance

Well I wouldn't agree with that based on the performance from BSNL. The EVDO connection from BSNL has poor performance when compared with Reliance Netconnect Broadband+ or TATA Photon+, except that the cost is higher. So 3G GSM from private operators should be used as a benchmark for which we have to wait. even i believe 3GSm wont be as good as evdo..coz they are operating in very limited spectrum, evdo is much more spectrum efficient than HSDPA used by GSM operators..and moreover EVDO is more robust and matured technology than 3gsm, Further evdo requires lesser no of towers, for 3gsm operator need to double their towers

Please stick to CDMA, better OMH handsets will soon hit the market.

last month I visited my native place which is about 10 to 12 km away from HSD coverage(MANIPAL, Karnataka) but i was able to surf using HSD from Manipal. EVen on 1x the speed is good in rural areas.
