  1. Hope all these get implemented. After reaching the projected breakeven point at Q4 of 2014/ Q1 of 2015 (our ROWB has crossed already in Q4 of 2012], data-centric projects, especially the LTE essay may become viable. टपटक 2 के ज़रिए सैमसंग गैलेक्सी एस3 से यह पोस्ट लिखा गया
  2. See, what's happening. Everything is possible in our country. Today SC has asked DoT not to take any coercive action till 11th. It may happen that the apex court will nullify DoT's move in the long run. 3. But the Govt. seems to be confused. Sometimes it allows first-come-first policy and at other the normal competitive bidding. We know, competitive bidding subtly kills small players and the biggies control the market by framing mock fight among themselves, e.g. the false price war between Pepsi and Coca-Cola. And I'm sure this lobby is so powerful that the so-called Govt policies will also be changed to their benefit. For example, AirTel, not having 3G license in Kolkata or Chennai but having it in RoWB & TN circles, will surely try to manipulate the Govt policies so that they can operate in the revenue earning circles (it is costly for them to maintain good network in cities scattered in vast geographical areas of WB or TN, rather it is highly cost-effective to operate in metros of Kolkata & Chennai with large number of 3G subscribers).
  4. It's an important question that the biggies are to be prevented from having cartel/monopoly, but how?
  5. ^^^ My assertion was clearly different. It was not about 2G or 3G auction but about having a fellow-feeling with the members using different operators' service. Our choice regarding an operator depends upon many factors and losing an operator from the competitive market is always detrimental to the interest of the consumers. I support Rajan Mehta's view that there isn't any positive reason to be happy at others' loss, because lesser the competition more we (the subscribers) suffer.
  6. In today's Special Offer, Shopclues is offering a combo of Two SanDisk Cruzer Blade (white and blue) 8GB pendrives at Rs. 558 ( shopping included) after using coupon SC3SP49 Link: http://www.shopclues.com/combo-of-2-sandisk-cruzer-blade-8gb-pen-drive-blue-and-white.html?source=cuelinks http://cdn.shopclues.com/images/detailed/351/SandiskCruzerBlade8GBWhitePenDriveM12x_1362637728.jpg
  7. I support. This was the point I raised at the time many of our members including some gurus were rejoicing poor state of MTS effected by Supreme Court's order to discontinue operation. After all, we, the subscribers will suffer if the competition at the operators' level subsides. So, let's not get vindictive against AirTel/ Voda/ !dea.
  8. MTS has provided details recharge options in its website. For ROWB circle, I found many points which I reproduce below for your amusement. Smartphone data packs. Rs. 44 recharge gives pro-rata more data (125MB) than Rs. 91 recharge (it should be at least 258MB instead of 250MB) Rs. 996 recharge is for 4GB HSD (+unlimited 1X only) but you get 1/4th data at lesser price. Rs. 996/4= 249 >Rs. 246 (it gives 1GB HSD + 1X unlimited + 200 SMS/ day local & national) Who will go for Rs. 996 with lesser benefit? For 1536MB i.e. for 1.5GB the recharge value is Rs. 402 , but who will go for it when 1.5GB HSD data + 100 mins Local+STD is available @ Rs. 195 recharge? RS. 193 gives 600MB data but at Rs. 4 less i.e. Rs. 189 recharge gives only 88MB less but gives unlimited 1X data. Rs. 207 (150 min Local + STD, 150 MB Data) gives much lesser benefit than Rs. 204 recharge (225 min Local + STD, 225 SMS Loc+STD, 225 MB Data) with same validity! Simply Talk Packs: Rs. 202 recharge gives 500 minutes local & STD while Rs. 221 gives 450 minutes! Compare Rs. 249 (200 Mins Free for Local Onnet + 200 Mins Free for Local Offnet + 100 Mins Free for STD Calls) with Rs. 301 recharge (300 Mins Free for Local Onnet + 200 Mins Free for Local Offnet + 100 Mins Free for STD Calls), for only 100 minutes of on-net calls one has to recharge Rs. 52 more. So, on-net calls @ 52 paisa/minute! Tariff packs: All local calls @ 1p/2sec is available for 60 days with Rs. 24 recharge. But with Rs. 48 recharge the same benefit comes with a validity of 90 days. Who will go for that and lose one month’s validity? कौन बुरबक यह बनाया? You can find more items for your amusement if you try, I’m sure.
  9. ^^^ Are you sure these are clerical mistakes? I think these topsy-turvy recharge options exist in reality. They are so careless!
  10. ^ Rooting is a prerequisite.
  11. It depends. The number can be allotted to others also. But in most of the cases it remains unalloted as the operators still have a quite a good number of fresh series for allotment.
  12. ^^^ What else you can do? Port out to a postpaid connection if you want keep your number and if nobody is ready to offer prepaid. Subsequently you will be able to port out to any other prepaid connection after mandatory 90 days of staying with the postpaid connection.
  13. DELL Wireless Optical Mouse WM-01 is available at Shopclues for Rs. 408 (including shipping) after applying coupon SCDO89
  14. Are Lenovo CDMA phones available now?

P700i is dual standby GSM only. I checked it myself. Cannot tell about other models.
  15. Motorola Droid Razr M (Global)

^^^ Were your Razr and OneX preventing tethering before rooting? Both from Verizon? Anybody rooted Razr M and succeeded tethering? Without tethering this handset is useless to me (whatever goodies it may possess) because I regularly use MTS's internet on my laptop through tether.
  16. Motorola Droid Razr M (Global)

Tethering is not possible. Sans rooting, I tried a lot of good rated tethering apps but all failed to tether via wifi/usb/bluetooth. It is because Verizon is doing business with it and when any one of these tethering is tried, it gets routed to subscription checking and eventually it fails. This problem seems to have been addressed by some XDA forum members successfully after rooting. Jellybean plays spoilsport here also, conference call is not possible, the person called first remains on hold even after call-merge. This is the first android handset I came across in which the primary google account can be deleted without resetting the phone. I deleted my google account and all the contacts vanished, but the call records remained there (now the names in the contacts against the numbers are not getting shown, obviously). With MTS, voice call overrides data session and when voice call starts, the '3G' icon vanishes. No simultaneous voice + data. Otherwise this is a very nice handset considering its display, built, screen size vis-a-vis overall size, internal user-usable memory, speed (default chrome browser behaves nicely), camera , location fixing and battery backup. The chisel-like shape is very attractive. And I liked the beautiful circle widget on the home screen.

  19. My shopping experience with Indiatimes is happening to be bad. I ordered the laptop on 10th March and even after 11 days its not shipped. After 9 days of no action, when asked their CC said that its going to be shipped on 19th. But NOT shipped even till 21st. Though their order confirmation email said the delivery date to be 23rd, I do not see that happening. Compare this to ebay where the mobile was ordered on 7th and received the product on 11th. Never again going to try out Indiatimes. Its the second one after gadgetguru.in I am blacklisting for online shopping !!! Today I again bought from Indiatimes (at 11:35AM) and it has been shipped today itself at 9:34PM (screenshot attached). No fuss at all. Aptness varies. Indian ebay is nascent compared to US, UK or Aus ebay. Fraudulent sellers galore at ebay and you will get fed up complaining about fake items. I've experience. Mostly it gets replaced/money refunded but it isn't flawless (in that case it is really comparable with Modi).
  20. Discounts & Deals For Non Electronics/Gadget Stuff

In today's Jaw Dropping Deal Shopclues.com is offering Hindustan Unilever Clear Shampoo (200ml) at Rs. 58(shipping included) (apply coupon SC1CS39) (which has MRP of Rs. 135)
  21. Samsung Galaxy S IV - The Next Big Thing!

That's true. Flaunting costs a lot. When iPhone 5 was here for the first time much before official launch in India, it cost Rs. 1,04,000 for the 64GB and more than Rs. 80k for the 8GB model. The drop in price is proportional to the loss in degree of attention. थोढ़ा पुराना हो जायेगा तो exclusiveness और flaunting का मज़ा ही चला जायेगा |
  22. Samsung Galaxy S IV - The Next Big Thing!

On topic... Go for Samsung Galaxy S4 It will be available right here (within 45 days) @ Rs. 60,089 (shipping included) offered by Souk India through rediff Options are Black Mist and White Frost GSM only.
  23. Motorola Droid Razr M (Global)

Will try to answer few of your queries after this weekend. However, I'll not root it.
  24. At my place there was Reliance Smart only and I started to use it with an outgoing rate of Rs. 5/min and that of incoming Rs. 4/ min. But I saw how my place (with many other places) got ignored by the operators. Webworld was shut down within a year or two and was never reopened. Postpaid CDMA was launched only by Tata only to be stopped expansion. Myself being one of the very few postpaid Tata subscribers struggle to pay the bills ( e-payment is the only option as the only exclusive store of Tata has been closed. Tata and Reliance gradually went on closing their non-revenue earning towers one by one, in turn forcing the subscribers to leave. Reliance netconnect eventually became a user's nightmare. On the other hand MTS gathered foothold where these two giants left a vacant field. Sans MTS, a smartphone subscriber has to use slow 1X at most of the places. These are the reasons why I'm pinning hope on MTS. But I also feel that if Reliance wants, it has strong potential to become the most attractive 4G operator in India.
  25. @ commonman, 'Kar Lo Duniya Mutthi Mein' and Reliance India Mobile was Dhirubhai's essay and not Mukesh's. I know the success story and role of Kokilaben Ambani in distribution of business between two brothers, Anil's strategy and present status of Reliance's mobile business. However, if you hope, Mukesh will turn the penetration wheel again with new venture and altogether new technology, I'll share the same platform with you because after all we are the subscribers who on the first place want to get the benefit. Who cares if the best service comes from MTS or Mukesh Ambani's company? If cheap and fast internet reaches to small towns and cities everybody will get the benefit. Unlike the GSM 3G availability only at certain places we want more and more penetration of wireless broadband. That will help in our national growth.
