i am not using any antivirus or spy ware :P

well, thats like saying.. you do not use a helmet when travelling on a two wheeler. Many people don't use helmets when riding a bike and they have been surviving without any problem. But better be safe than sorry later. For instance... some of your friend unknowingly uses an infected floppy/CD and a virus enters your PC (when you are not at home) and destroys all your valuable data... then there would be no point in boasting that you survived without an AV for years

Remember the eicar test file? here's one more mock-trojan to test ur antivirus... check it out

Its Trojan Simulator by Mischel Internet Security (www.misec.net) and that will help you to determine if your AntiVirus is Really Working Prefectly or not

Download From ->

http://www.misec.net:80/products/TrojanSimulator.zip

do post the results here

What is Mcafee OAS is it diff from Regular Mcafee

and yes it did Detect as trojan and Delete the eicar test file..

http://www.misec.net:80/products/TrojanSimulator.zip

even this was detected as potentially unwanted program!!!!

and Deleted.

Yes. As I told to "copperco2" in FREE avast! and AVG are good and if you want paid anti-virus then Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best. :winko:

have been using

Zone Alarm Security Suite

+ Spybot (teatimer active)

since the past 1 year...didnt face any probs since then...

a question...do u guys recommend switching to AVG for anti-virus and keep zone's firewall?

what bout the system resource utilisation? will it remain the same after that or will it putup more load?

take care

mcafee is a good one

reason

1) you can have a superdat file downloaded and install it whenever u reinstall the av, really useful when os crashes this avoids a huge download for updates.

2) load on os is very low

3) keeps scanning in backgroud

4) scheduled updates (good one for those using in night unlimited)

Currently using AVG 7.5 Free as Anti - Virus

and Spybot S & D as Anti Spyware.

Both are Good.

I prefer AVG over Norton as in my case Norton was unable to detect a Virus (Gameof1), which AVG detected as soon as I selected the particular File.

Since then I am stuck to AVG.
