Reliance's New Chennai-tn Roaming Pack

Recommended Posts

Reliance Infocomm has introduced for the Chennai and the Rest of Tamil Nadu circles a new roaming pack where incoming calls will be free even while roaming. This service will be available to only Chennai and Tamil Nadu subscribers.

The pack for prepaid subscribers will be available at all WebWorlds, WebWorld Expresses and retail outlets. The new product, which is basically an add-on facility, will have 30-day validity. The Post-paid subscribers will have to call the customer care to have the facility activated.

The features of the launch are:

Special Rs 45 top-up RCV with 30 days facility for pre-paid subscribers.

Special monthly subscription of Rs 48 for post-paid customers.

Small businessmen, entrepreneurs, traders and sales personnel regularly travelling between Chennai and other places in the state will find the Chennai-TN roaming pack useful. So will the families of students pursuing higher studies outside Chennai.

V G Somasekhar, RIM Business Head for Tamil Nadu and Kerala said, "Reliance already has an attractive tariff structure for outgoing calls made while roaming. In fact, the subscriber has the advantage of paying only the home tariff for outgoing calls. This unique value proposition is available to all customers across the country".

Effectively Chennai and Rest of Tamilnadu customers can roam between the 2 circles, pay home rates for outgoing calls and get unlimited free incoming calls.

"The new Chennai- TN roaming product reiterates our earnest efforts towards breaking down mobile boundaries and our quest to transcend customer expectation," Somasekhar added.

"Backed by the successful roll-out of our Phase II programme, the incessant flow of innovative products combined with unmatched value ads truly embodies the spirit of Reliance Infocomm's pledge of Unlimited India," he further added.

Reliance Infocomm, with the roll-out of its RIM phase-ll plan for Tamil Nadu, is expanding its network to 466 new towns. With this expansion, Reliance Infocomm will service 575 cities and towns in Tamil Nadu.

The expansion further enhances connectivity capacity of the network, guaranteeing seamless communications across the state as state as Reliance Infocomm covers all district headquarters in the State. Eventually, Reliance Infocomm’s services will spread to all 985 towns in the State.

Somasekhar said, "We are thrilled with the rapid growth of our customer base in the state. The result of this phenomenal response provides irrefutable evidence of our excellent cellular communication deliverables".

Reliance Infocomm would reach out to 466 towns in response to a tremendous demand from these areas and its services will now also be available in 31 districts and one union territory, he added.

Reliance Infocomm at present has a subscriber base of more than 9,00,000 in the state and it is expected to jump manifold as the company covers more and more towns. In the process, the area covered by the network will criss-cross 14 National Highways, 22 State Highways and 37 Railway Routes through the length and breadth of the State.

Based on powerful CDMA technology, Reliance Infocomm is able to ensure superior voice quality and offer hundreds of data applications and mobile Internet connections at a speed of 144kbps. A recent survey has shown that the usage of Reliance IndiaMobile phones for data transfer is on the rise.

Reliance Infocomm Ltd., a Reliance group company, is India’s largest mobile service provider with over 8 million customers. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high capacity, integrated (wireless and wireline) and convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain - infrastructure, services for enterprises and individuals, applications and consulting. I won't be suprised if in the future they will do the same to Mumbai and Maharashtra circles too. They could as well make 1 state equals 1 circle and eliminate all confusion

its very much possible, coz when ril had reduced call rates for prepaid from 2.49 to 99 paisa it had stareted first with chennai, and had then gone in for other states

If roaming incoming free(Chennai-TN) is the indicator to whats in store for RIM users, it should not be too far that RIM starts giving All India Roaming Incoming Free for a monthly tariff of about Rs 100, or may be totally free.

They have to do something like that making all India incoming calls free, of course with a premium to compete with MTNL/BSNL who are also offering roaming free like rim.

I am from Kolkata and i study in IIT Kharagpur (WB). So i face a lot of problem with Kolkata and WB being two different circles. I guess Reliance offers the same solution to all the metros at least. And at a later point of time all India roaming incoming free with a subscription fee. That will be great.
