As most of you are aware by now MEID Registration and EVDO Activation on Reliance CDMA is a reality now thanks to efforts from members like HetalDP, Sadikk, etc. This will allow foreign CDMA handsets to be activated legally and use on Reliance Mobile CDMA network with EVDO. We never know if Reliance may force A-Key authentication which can affect foreign CDMA Handsets configured by changing ESN in the past; and changing handsets or selling to someone is a hassle too - so MEID registration is the way to go for complete peace of mind and you get the oppurtunity to have EVDO as well. Without doubt this is a major achievement for everyone for which we have been waiting for several years. In order to cover the costs incurred till now for everyone involved in making it a dream come true and for future software development we need to help them financially even though they are not forcing for it. So we have decided to raise funds (instead of seeking random donation) by uniformly charging the following amounts for members who would like to take advantage of MEID registration and/or EVDO activation: MEID Registration + EVDO Activation = 1000 MEID Registration only = 500 EVDO Activation only (if your MEID is already registered) = 750 This will benefit everyone as both the developers and the members will be able to support each other instead of having just a few members to bear the costs involved. I request everyone to help raise the funds for something we have been eagerly waiting for. Here are some FAQs which I presume will be asked by some members: Does it really cost that much for MEID Registration/EVDO Activation process? No, it will not cost that much. The major part of the charge will be spent for covering the costs incurred till now and for future software development. How do I get my MEID registered and activate EVDO for my MDN? Go here and read the instructions in the first post. How do I make the payment for the fundraiser? We will try to give you as many options as possible like Bank A/C Transfer, Credit Card, PayPal, etc. Please mention your preferred mode of payment when you send the email and the details will be given in the reply. I have already sent the email earlier? You will be informed about the payment details in the reply email. How do I configure my new foreign handset after MEID is registered and for EVDO activation? New topics with configuration instructions will be coming up in the Technical/Programming forum in the coming days along with other related FAQs. What are the softwares being developed? Currently the process for configuring the handset after MEID/EVDO registration/activation has to be done manually which can be bit difficult for the technically challenged. A new software that can configure A-Key, MDN, PPP and HDR UID & password with EVDO settings which is dump compatible for CDMA Workshop 2.7 is being planned. The software is also expected to load Reliance NAM settings like Channel/MNC/MCC/SID/NID and have device specific support as well. This software is only planned and not easy to develop since it involves CDMA programming and can take time as well. Since we do not know if it would be possible for sure; for configuring the handsets new topics with instructions to do that will come up in the Technical/Programming forum or by email one-on-one. Will I get refund if the software development is unsuccessful? No, we are not commited to provide the software based on the funds raised as that is not the main purpose of the fundraiser. Recovering the money spent till now is the first priority. If we get enough funds then we will go ahead to develop the software to write HDR and other parameters in the handset. Manual configuration support will be provided anyway as indicated earlier. I have sent the details by email few days ago but I haven't received any response yet? I will keep an eye on the whole process though I am not directly involved in it. Sadikk will be posting the updates in this topic. Where do I find the Bank payment details? See the attachment in this post

Can HIV spread through Saliva? Case has doctors thinking Menaka Rao. DNA Mumbai. Feb 9, 2011. HIV, according to experts, is not normally transmitted through saliva. Transmission of the virus from the host is possible when saliva is mixed with blood. In an unusual case, which should make the experts revisit their earlier position, a 50-year-old man has contacted HIV through his son's saliva. The man was bitten by his 32-year-old HIV positive stepson. But the latter did not have ulcers in his mouth, which usually leads to saliva getting mixed with blood. Documented instances speak of the presence of the virus in saliva, but transmission takes place only in the above case. "The son had pulled out the thumb nail of his father. Since the wound was raw, the virus could enter easily," said Dr Alaka Deshpande, who runs the Centre of Excellence ART clinic at JJ hospital. The patient had come to her last year. To understand the case better, the doctors wanted to verify if the father carried the same virus that has infected his son. Deshpande then sent the patient to National Institute of Research in Reproductive Health for further testing. Dr AH Bandivdekar and Dr Shivaji Jadhav from the department of biochemistry and virology did gene sequencing of the HIV virus in the father and the son's blood and concluded that both viruses were the same. "This confirmed the source of the HIV virus. Also, the son's saliva had a high viral load which may have also caused the transmission," said Dr Deshpande. Unfortunately, the father was not given post exposure prophylaxis (PEP), a short-term anti-retroviral treatment given to reduce the likelihood of HIV infection after potential exposure. The family doctor told him that the virus cannot spread via saliva. "He was admitted to JJ hospital for meningitis. After four days, he told us about this history. His blood was then sent for HIV testing and he was discovered HIV positive," said Deshpande. She stressed that family physicians should know about HIV infected human bites and should treat it with PEP, in which the treatment should start within two hours of the potential exposure. The father's viral load was more than 20 lakh then. "He was treated as per US guidelines so that the virus does not spread to other organs. After treatment his viral load came down." This case study was presented at the International Conference on Emerging Frontiers and Challenges in HIV/AIDS Research by Dr Jadhav to show that HIV infected human bites should be treated with PEP.

    Gmail keyboard shortcuts are a great way to increase your computing performance. These small combinations of keystrokes within Gmail can be a real productivity booster and help you avoid having to move your hand from keyboard to mouse as frequently. Gmail shortcuts are somewhat different than browser keyboard shortcuts for two main reasons: Limits on Keystroke Choices: when using Gmail keyboard shortcuts you are working within a web browser so Gmail cannot duplicate any of the standard shortcut key combinations used by Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari or Opera web browsers; Functions Vary by Location: Gmail shortcut functionality is based on your location within Gmail. Some shortcuts function only when reading a message or conversation, some work only when viewing conversation lists such as Inbox or All Mail, or viewing Contacts or Tasks. Activating Gmail’s Keyboard Shortcuts Before these shortcuts can be used you have to make sure that the Keyboard Shortcuts Setting for Gmail is set to “on” in Gmail Settings as shown here: To help clarify how Gmail keyboard shortcuts are used they have been grouped below by functionality, such as Navigation, Selection, Management or General. Gmail Top Level View Navigation Shortcuts These combinations of keystrokes speed up navigating among top level views such as Inbox, Sent Mail, All Mail, Spam, Trash, Drafts, Contacts and Tasks. All letters in the keystroke combinations are shown in lower case but are not case sensitive. An example: “g then i” means press the “g” key then the “i” key, one right after the other. g then i – Open the Inbox. g then s – Open Starred. g then t – Open Sent Mail. g then d – Open Drafts. g then a – Open All Mail. g then c – Open Contacts. g then k – Open Tasks. Gmail Selection and Management Shortcuts These combinations of keystrokes are used within a specific view such as Inbox or All Mail to assist with quickly managing messages and conversations. * then a – Select all conversations. * then n – Deselect all conversations. * then r – Select only read conversations. * then u – Select only unread conversations. * then s – Select only starred conversations. * then t– Select only unstarred conversations. x — Select a specific conversation; puts a check in checkbox; works as a toggle. s – Stars a specific conversation; works as a toggle. .– Open the More Actions dropdown list; works as a toggle. e — Archive a conversation from current View into the All Mail View. l – Open the Labels dropdown list to allow you to apply a label to a conversation. # — Move the selected conversation to the Trash. <Shift> + i — Mark selected conversations as read. <Shift> + u – Mark selected conversations as unread. Gmail Message Navigation Shortcuts These Gmail keyboard shortcuts are used for navigating within conversations lists or views. The small black arrow at the left of the conversation list indicates the current conversation focus. u – Return to conversation list (View) from current conversation. k – Move to newer conversation; location indicated by black arrow on left. j – Move to older conversation; location indicated by black arrow on left. <Enter> or o – Open selected conversation; black arrow indicates selection. <Shift> + <Enter> or <Shift> + o — Open a conversation in a new window; black arrow indicates selection. p — Read previous message within a conversation. n — Read next message within a conversation. r – Reply to sender when a conversation is open. <Shift> + r — Open the reply in a new window. a — Reply to all when a conversation is open. <Shift> + a — Open the reply to all in a new window. f — Forward current conversation when a conversation is open. <Shift> + f — Open the forward current conversation in a new window. <Ctrl> + s — Save a new or edited conversation as a draft. Ok friends let's be creative, what you have to do is write a story, using "HOLI KAB HAI ?...................KAB HAI HOLI ?" or you can write anything that comes to your mind keeping Sholay/Rimweb/Techiness in mind. Winners will be announced on the eve of Holi (may be sooner) I leave judging open ... . . . Winner Announced yahan dabao First lets have a little glimpse of the Reliving Moments of Gabbar Singh. 1. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone who is breathing knows Sholay - Friends lets relive the EPIC Sholay with these pics, if you find some good stuff related to Sholay feel free to post it, have a nice WeekenD

NOTE: This Guide misses India's First Android 2.3 Gingerbread HSPA+ Android Olive Smart-VS300 For Rs 20,000... Details Here http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__220277 Do Consider That.. Best Android Phones: February 2011 See which ones are worth your money in every price range With new Android phones releasing month after month, there can be no definitive way to declare a particular phone to be the best buy for too long. That's why we've made it a monthly habit to keep updating the Best Android phones to buy list, so that potential buyers have one place to seek advice. Phones under Rs. 10,000 There is a growing number of options in this cost conscious smartphone range, with every manufacturer trying to one-up the other by marginally improving the features. As a rule of the thumb, I'm not even going to consider all those phones with resistive touchscreens, and with good reason. As of now, we declare the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Pop S5570 as the champion of the paisa vasool range. It's an upgrade to the popular Galaxy 5 i5500 model and it brings about some important changes -- the screen size is bumped up from 2.8 inches to 3.2 inches, although it still has the low QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) resolution. But for the price, we can forgive Samsung of this sin. The camera resolution is upped from the pitiful 2 megapixel to the not-so-pitiful 3.2 megapixel. It still lacks autofocus and an LED flash; don't expect great photo quality from it. The most important change is that it runs Android 2.2 Froyo from start, unlike the Galaxy 5 which still runs Android 2.1, with no clear update roadmap in sight. It may not be the most recent Gingerbread (2.3) version, but we still appreciate it running a fairly recent version, given how fast Google churns out OS updates every year. It still has the i5500's 600 MHz processor, and with the same QVGA resolution and the Froyo performance optimizations, you can expect the User Interface to fly swiftly. Apart from this, the Galaxy Pop also adds a proximity sensor and a compass to the package. Connectivity is sorted with 3.5G (HSDPA), Wi-fi 802.11n and A-GPS support. It sells for Rs. 9,000 -- the same price that its predecessor was sold at when launched. For the price, we think the Galaxy Pop S5570 is a good package for the Android lover who likes to hold back on splurging hard earned money. Phones between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000 Till a few days, the LG Optimus P500 was the undisputed champion of value for money phones for people who want more quality than what the el-cheapo Andros offer. That was until Samsung launched the most tempting mid-range Android phone - the Galaxy Ace S5830 - for just a shade under Rs. 15,000. While the Optimus P500 is still a decent buy for Rs. 12,500, let us tell you why investing Rs. 2,500 more to buy the Galaxy Ace will repay you aplenty. First -- the screen is bigger at 3.5 inches -- imagine the iPhone's screen size. Second, it comes with a higher resolution 5 megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash (the P500 doesn't have one). Although both the P500 and the Ace run the same type of processor, the Ace gets a speed bump of 200 MHz which brings the clock speed to 800 MHz. The Galaxy Ace too runs Android 2.2 out of the box. At a price of Rs. 14,990, it is a tempting buy and gets the upper hand in this spot. Phones between Rs. 15,000 and 20,000 This range is currently ruled by the one and only champion -- the Motorola DEFY. We had a chance to use this phone intensively, and I walked away impressed. It's a tough nut to crack, thanks to the resistance from water and dust. The screen is protected by Corning's scratch-proof Gorilla glass. It has a bigger 3.7 inch high-resolution (854 x 480 pixel) screen, and yet the phone's body is very petite. The interface runs pretty smooth thanks to the 800 MHz processor and the PowerVR SGX530 graphics chip. The camera doesn't take stunning pics but they're pretty decent in quality overall. The call quality and network reception is awesome and the loudspeaker is powerful. The only bottleneck in the DEFY is its Android 2.1 OS, but it is expected to be updated to Version 2.2 in the second quarter of 2011. At Rs. 18,500, you're getting a good set of add-ons when compared to the pick in the category before. Phones between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000 For people willing to invest a good sum into feature-packed Android phones in this price range, we'd ask you to do one thing -- HOLD YOUR PURCHASES! Have we gone nuts? Of course, we're a little nutty all the time. But seriously, the main reason for why we're saying this can be explained in three letters -- MWC, or the Mobile World Congress 2011 that's going to happen next week. The MWC will have all phone manufacturers launch their latest handsets. Phones like the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc and XPERIA Play and the Samsung Galaxy S2. Then there are phones like the Motorola Atrix 4G or the LG Optimus 2X that have been formally announced and are expected to start selling soon. What will these monster phones bring to the table? Some will bring dual-core processors and 1080p HD video playback, higher screen resolutions and biometric fingerprint readers. 8 megapixel camera sensors will become a standard, and front-facing video-call cameras, that were a rarity even in the best Android phones till now, will also appear in many of them. So, when these phones launch in India at that Rs. 30,000 price range, you'll feel like a fool having spend very close to that amount in purchasing a high-end Android phone today. And once these phones land, we can only expect the pricing of current "high-end" phones like the Dell Venue or the HTC Desire HD to go down for the fear of being called outdated, overpriced handsets. But if you don't really care about all the features we mentioned above, and cannot wait any longer to buy one (maybe even both), then here are our recommendations. Just don't come crying back saying we didn't warn you. In the under Rs. 25,000 bracket, we find the HTC Desire to be quite a tempting buy. A big S-LCD display with HTC's eye candy Sense UI and it runs Android 2.2 now. The Desire feels nice to hold and has a good build quality. It's got all the features that an avid smartphone user would want, and a Rs. 22,000 price tag that might seem very reasonable to many. In the Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 bracket, if you really had to buy one now, we'd put our money on the Dell Venue, since the original Galaxy S isn't selling anymore. The Venue has a couple of pluses over the former; like a body that isn't entirely made of plastic and the 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash. It sells for Rs. 28,000. Next week is going to be an insane week for mobile phones enthusiasts, and we can't wait to lay our hands on the new Titans that will be launched. But if you want to buy an Android phone today, hope this guide has helped you make a choice. Source:Techtree
