No confusion. Jio join needs your phone [whether 2g or 3g or 4g phone] connected to jio network. So a phone connected to jio network via jioFi [using Wi-Fi tech] qualifies as well. Similarly for jio sim in 4g non volte phone. Yes. This is a much more important issue. Not everyone jumps to buy volte phone. For example in my family everyone has 4g phone, but none of them is volte capable. So jio must concentrate on launching good quality LYF phones with great battery life. These LYF phones never last long and so the name LYF is not at all suitable for them, imho. According to me $EX would have been a better brand name for those short lived phones. So I recommend the following names for their phone series.. LYF == $EX Flame == Hand [better than Nothing] Wind == 0ral [now we are talking -- may be not] Water == $traight [upTo the point] Earth == 3sum [more features and price] sent from my Lenovo vibe P1 using Tapatalk

Who is not collecting location data these days? Privacy is concept of past. How much ever we wish, using smart phone means all your data is somewhere up for sale including contact details If Jio join fail IMO tough time for Jio for year or so - by the time range of voLTE phones are available.

TRAI is now issuing the consultation papers for changing the IUC from (current) 14 p to "BILL AND KEEP" system or simply 0p.. COAI is opposing it. Actually just few months back TRAI has reduced the IUC from (previous) 20p to (current) 14p --->> for that also AVoId group has already filed a case against the 6p reduction. So ZERO p IUC implementation is not going to be a simple task. But Jio banks on the fact that IUC may become zero within Dec2016. Even if IUC is reduced to 5p from current 14p, the 149Rs plan allows 2980 calls + number of incoming calls from offline numbers.. So NOT a big deal, imho... The overages charge is 0.5p / 10KB == 50p/MB approx. == 512Rs/GB.. Sorry, my mistake.. Overage charges for data pack is 0.25p / 10KB == 25p / MB == 256Rs / GB Overage charges for WiFi data is 0.05p / 10KB == 5p / MB == 51Rs / GB To be honest, both the NIGHT UNLIMITED and WiFi data are just for the name sake for vast number of people... On a lighter note, While Airtel's Night cheaper data (timing from 12 to 6AM) is for watchmen, JIO's night unlimited (2 to 5 AM) is for thieves.

@LTE4G the so called WIFI data is only available when there is a Jionet public hotspot available. In Kolkata it is available only in 2 places about 1 KM stretch in each case. Speed is dismal. So it can never be taken into the equation until the coverage of such public wifi hotspots increase.

^^^ I doubt about ₹ 299 as validity is only 21 days. This is different as the most packs is valid for 28 days. However, I don't see the monthly outgoing will reduce that much. Currently you pay about 400-500 (general public not high voice users) for voice and ~1GB data. I feel ₹ 499 is the most viable option. For 299, you pay 897 for 2 months and with 499 you will pay 998 with double the data. So as I said, monthly out going will be almost same as now. 149 is the best for limited data users. EDIT: After posting the message, I got below forward on WhatsApp and it is pretty much the same that I mentioned.

Yes ONLY 4G (LTE) - specially look for LTE Band 3,5&40 support in the handset with VoLTE too.

It is included or bundled, you can access WiFi Hotspot in your area if available. JioNet Hotspot is available at stadium , airport, shopping malls, several public places etc. and you only need Jio SIM in your handset to authenticate and log in - no other 'user name' or 'password' required. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/company/corporate-trends/reliance-jio-data-plan-tariffs-all-you-want-to-know/articleshow/53958707.cms http://indiatoday.intoday.in/technology/story/reliance-jio-4g-data-plans-prices-how-it-is-different-and-everything-you-need-to-know/1/754103.html

For voice, you need a VoLTE enabled 4G handset though data will work on any 4G handset starting from 5th Sept.
